RuneScape Reignited Launches 2 December. It Is Not RS4

The 2 December 2026 launch Jagex announced at RuneFest is RuneScape Reignited, a fresh start inside the current game. RS4 still has no release date.

What changed

At RuneFest 2026 Jagex gave RuneScape Reignited a launch date. Reignited, the new Adventure Guide and the next stage of Jagex's remaster of the early game "will all arrive in a single update, launching on December 2nd." From Jagex's announcement and the official Reignited page:

  • What it is: a new character type in the existing RuneScape that starts the game from the beginning. Jagex calls it "similar to Ironman" and says it "will therefore require its own membership."
  • Free access: every Reignited character can use members' worlds free from 2 to 12 December 2026.
  • What follows: Parts II and III of the remastered journey are planned for later in 2027.

What it means for RS4

Nothing changes. Reignited belongs to the RuneScape you can play today. RS4 is a separate MMO in Unreal Engine, and Jagex says it "is still a few years away". The 2 December date appears on Jagex's Reignited pages, never on the official RS4 page, so a post that gives RS4 a December 2026 release has mixed up the two projects.

Still unknown

RS4's release date, beta and platforms. Its next official milestone is the update Jagex has promised for 2027, with no month given.
