RS4 in 2027: What Jagex Has Promised to Share
Jagex says it will share much more about RS4 next year. These are the four things it named, and the questions it says are still too early to answer.
What Jagex said
"We'll tell you much more next year about the world, the game, the team building it and, importantly, how you can start getting involved."
The four things named
- The world: RS4 is set in Gielinor in the Sixth Age and begins in Ashenfall. Jagex says it plans to move "into places you know and love" over time, as well as new places and stories.
- The game: almost nothing about how RS4 plays has been shown.
- The team: Jagex has not introduced the people building RS4.
- Getting involved: Jagex wants players in the development journey early, but has not said how.
The questions Jagex left open
Jagex listed these itself and said it is too early to answer them: platforms, accounts, membership, progression, combat, skills and when anyone can play. A 2027 update may answer some, all or none of them.
What it means
Our reading: 2027 is a window, not a date. Jagex has not named a month or an event, so treat any specific date you see elsewhere as unconfirmed until it appears on an official Jagex page. The quickest official channel is the Register interest form on runescape.com/4.
Still unknown
When in 2027 the update comes, and in what form.
