Jagex Reveals a New RuneScape MMO, RS4, at RuneFest
Jagex has confirmed an entirely new RuneScape MMORPG, working title RS4, built in Unreal Engine and beginning in Ashenfall. It is still a few years away.
What was announced
At RuneFest 2026 Jagex revealed that its fourth RuneScape MMO is in development. The official RS4 page lists what Jagex wants players to know:
- It is a new RuneScape MMORPG, built in Unreal Engine.
- It sits alongside RuneScape, Old School RuneScape and Dragonwilds as an independent experience.
- It will follow the principles of integrity, permanent progression and community-driven development.
- It is set in Gielinor and begins in Ashenfall.
- It is still a few years away.
What it means for players
Nothing changes for RuneScape, Old School or Dragonwilds: Jagex says each keeps its own team and roadmap. RS4 is a long-term project revealed early so players can follow its development.
Still unknown
Platforms, accounts, membership, progression, combat, skills and when anyone can play. Jagex says it is too early to answer these and that it will share much more in 2027.
