Dragonwilds Is on Consoles. What It Means for RS4
RuneScape: Dragonwilds left early access on 15 September 2026 on PC, PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox. Jagex has still not named a single platform for RS4.
What Jagex said
On 15 September 2026 Jagex launched RuneScape: Dragonwilds in full on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X|S, which it describes as the first time a RuneScape title has launched on any console platform. It is also part of Xbox Game Pass and the Extra and Premium tiers of PlayStation Plus.
Three weeks later, the official RS4 page still lists platforms as an open question:
"Which platforms? What accounts? Membership? Progression? Combat? Skills? When can you actually play it? But, the answer right now is that it's simply not the right time, or just too early, for us to say."
What it means
Our reading: Jagex has now shipped a RuneScape game on consoles, and it says RS4 builds on technology lessons from Dragonwilds. That makes a console version of RS4 plausible, but plausible is not announced. Dragonwilds is a survival game for up to four players; an MMO has different needs, and Jagex has chosen not to name any RS4 platform yet, PC included.
A correction on this site
Our Dragonwilds glossary entry still described it as an early access game for Windows. It now says that Dragonwilds was in early access from 15 April 2025 and launched in full on 15 September 2026.
Still unknown
Every RS4 platform. Jagex points to 2027 for more information. See RS4 platforms for the current answer.
